Factory Maintenance Engineer – Escourt Plant

About the role

Nestlé is looking for a Factory Maintenance Engineer to join its Escourt manufacturing site in South Africa. The role focuses on implementing and executing the plant’s asset maintenance programme to minimise unplanned stops, optimise maintenance costs and increase overall asset intensity.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and execute preventive maintenance activities for existing assets.
• Participate in PM‑pillar initiatives, conduct breakdown analysis and coach teams on best practices.
• Ensure effective use of the AMM (Asset Management) system across the plant.
• Provide input for the annual maintenance budget, track spending and propose corrective actions.
• Support competence‑building plans, deliver technical training and develop AMM expertise within the engineering team.
• Assist production in eliminating quality defects, safety risks and chronic technical issues.
• Support the implementation of applicable standards and ensure compliance in the area of responsibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering management experience (maintenance, industrial services or E&A) in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience working in multifunctional teams, such as capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of asset maintenance; familiarity with TPM methodology is preferred.
• Excellent planning, organising, communication and negotiation skills.
• Commitment to safety and quality, with a focus on team development.
