Engineering Technician (Electrical/Mechanical)

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Technician (Electrical/Mechanical) to join AWS Infrastructure Services’ Data Center Engineering Operations team. In this hands‑on role you will troubleshoot and operate a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment that keeps our global cloud infrastructure running.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily operational rounds, recording temperatures, voltages, currents and other key parameters for all equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and resolve incidents within defined Service Level Agreements.
• Maintain and service Uninterruptible Power Supplies, switchgear, circuit breakers, automatic transfer switches, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC systems, exhaust fans, VFDs and transformers.
• Supervise contractors performing preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Follow and promote the highest safety standards, leading safety initiatives and remediation actions.
• Handle manual lifting and equipment movement in accordance with health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Work rotating shifts to provide 24/7 coverage of the data centre.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with electrical and mechanical systems in a data‑center or industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and operational data.
• Strong commitment to safety and willingness to lead safety culture.
• Physical capability to lift and move equipment as required.
• Flexibility to work shift schedules.
