Director, Network Management (Africa Region)

About the role

The Director – Network Commercialization will drive growth, optimisation and commercialisation of Mastercard’s receiving network across the Africa region. The role expands payout capabilities, strengthens relationships with receiving service providers, banks and payment partners, and ensures best‑in‑class coverage, pricing, speed and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute regional network commercialisation strategies to grow key remittance corridors.
• Identify, negotiate and onboard new receiving service providers, banks, fintechs and payment institutions.
• Manage strategic relationships with existing partners, conduct business reviews and negotiate commercial agreements.
• Activate and promote new payout methods such as bank‑account deposit, mobile‑wallet and push‑to‑card to increase transaction volume.
• Collaborate with banks and issuers to enable card‑based payout solutions and push‑to‑card services.
• Analyse network performance, reduce cancellations and improve transaction success rates.
• Work with product, compliance, operations and technology teams to enhance network scalability and regulatory compliance.
• Support regional sales teams with market insights, corridor development and strategic recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Banking or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in payments, banking, fintech, remittances or card networks.
• Proven track record of managing commercial relationships and driving network expansion.
• Strong understanding of cross‑border payment ecosystems and remittance value chains.
• Experience negotiating with banks, payment institutions and fintech partners across multiple countries.
