Data Analyst II – Treasury Analytics

About the role

We are looking for a Data Analyst II to join the Group Treasury team at Capitec Bank. The role focuses on translating balance‑sheet, liquidity and capital insights into reporting and analytics for senior decision‑making forums.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Sigma analytics platform on top of Snowflake, building and maintaining dashboards and data models for ALCO, Exco and Board‑level decisions.
• Translate Treasury, liquidity and capital requirements into data products, design KPIs, scenario analyses and self‑service tools.
• Act as a bridge between business and technical teams, turning business questions into data requirements and ensuring end‑to‑end reporting solutions.
• Identify and automate reporting opportunities, leveraging AI and modern tooling to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with Treasury, Finance, Risk, Data Engineering and Analytics teams to deliver scalable solutions.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Data, Analytics, Finance or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in data analysis, BI engineering or analytics platforms.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with large datasets.
• Experience with BI tools such as Sigma, Power BI or Tableau.
• Ability to communicate insights clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL and query optimisation on cloud warehouses (Snowflake preferred).
• Building governed visualisations and dashboards in Sigma, Power BI or Tableau.
• Data modelling and semantic layer design in cloud data platforms.
• Python, R or advanced Excel (including macros/VBA) for model translation.
• Understanding of AI/GenAI use cases in analytics.
