Country Representative – South Africa

About the role

The Country Representative will lead Ipas South Africa’s national program, providing technical and managerial direction to achieve the organization’s strategic objectives. Reporting to the Regional Director for Southern Africa, the role oversees program design, implementation, monitoring and reporting across all units.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the country strategy and annual work plans in line with Ipas mission.
• Provide supervisory leadership to department heads, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
• Review and approve project workplans, budgets and ensure cost‑efficiency and financial stewardship.
• Conduct high‑level reviews of program progress, financial performance and risk mitigation.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, Ipas policies and donor reporting requirements.
• Represent Ipas with external stakeholders, partners, donors and national SRHR networks.
• Guide technical units, offering programmatic input and integrating lessons learned into new initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in managing large‑scale health or development programs.
• Strong background in strategic planning, financial monitoring and risk management.
• Excellent ability to work with diverse partners, donors and government counterparts.
• Demonstrated capacity to supervise multidisciplinary teams and drive results.
