Corporate Tax Specialist – 12 Month Contract

About the role

The client is looking for a Corporate Tax Specialist on a 12‑month contract to own income tax compliance, reporting and advisory functions. The role ensures adherence to the Botswana Income Tax Act, supports business operations with accurate tax reporting and provides strategic tax advice.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with the Botswana Income Tax Act and related legislation.
• Calculate and manage monthly income tax and deferred tax provisions.
• Prepare and submit provisional tax payments, annual returns and other revenue‑authority filings.
• Ensure Transfer Pricing compliance and maintain required documentation.
• Defend tax positions during audits and liaise with revenue authorities.
• Provide income tax advice to business units and project teams.
• Perform monthly tax‑related reconciliations and keep accurate records.
• Review supplier invoices for VAT and withholding tax compliance.
• Monitor tax legislation changes, assess impact and recommend actions.
• Support auditors and stakeholders in financial reporting and compliance activities.
• Facilitate knowledge‑sharing sessions on tax legislation.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification (essential).
• Post‑graduate tax qualification (advantageous).
• Good working knowledge of IFRS accounting principles.
• 1–3 years experience in direct taxation, tax compliance and reporting within a petrochemical, manufacturing or large corporate environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and financial reporting capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Required skills

• SAP working knowledge.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Understanding of IFRS accounting principles.
