Corporate Legal Advisor – Commercial & Regulatory Law

About the role

We are seeking a strategic Corporate Legal Advisor to provide commercial‑focused legal counsel to executive management and business units. The role involves safeguarding legal interests while supporting the company’s commercial objectives across a range of transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day legal and commercial advice to senior management and various departments.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage commercial contracts such as vendor agreements, NDAs, IT agreements and leases.
• Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, POPIA, Consumer Protection Act and other relevant regulations.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and commercial risks in operations and proposed deals.
• Manage corporate governance matters, including board resolutions and director duties.
• Liaise with external counsel on specialised matters or litigation.
• Develop internal legal policies, SOPs and deliver compliance training.

Required profile

• LLB degree from a recognised university.
• Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (preferred).
• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in a corporate/commercial legal environment; in‑house experience is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of South African corporate law, contract law and regulatory compliance.
• Highly organised, proactive and able to work autonomously in a fast‑paced setting.
