Composite & Deck Drawing Office Supervisor

About the role

The organisation is looking for a permanent Composite & Deck Drawing Office Supervisor to lead a small team of engineers at its manufacturing site in Athlone Industria, Cape Town. You will oversee composite design, deck hardware design and deck outfitting, ensuring that all drawings meet production standards and delivery timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a team of five (2 composite, 3 deck) in planning, task allocation and drawing reviews.
• Maintain communication with the Drawing Office Manager, other supervisors and technical coordinators.
• Interpret specifications and stay up‑to‑date with relevant rules and regulations.
• Provide technical proposals and input to decision‑makers.
• Create 3D models integrated into the overall boat assembly using SolidWorks.
• Validate interfaces with other departments through 3D modelling.
• Produce 2D production drawings and engineer composite scantlings and deck components as required.
• Liaise with naval architects, structural engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure proper design integration.

Required profile

• Degree or Master’s in Naval Architecture, Yacht Design or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in the marine/yacht building industry.
• Practical sailing experience.
• Strong technical engineering knowledge, spatial awareness and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
