Compliance Officer – Finance & Compliance (Grade 10/11)

About the role

The Compliance Officer will support the Compliance Manager in establishing and maintaining a robust regulatory compliance framework for Sanlam Life and Savings, focusing on Sanlam Group Risk and Sanlam Corporate Investments. The role involves identifying, assessing, and monitoring compliance risks while ensuring adherence to legislation and internal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and risk‑rate applicable laws and regulations, and develop compliance monitoring plans.
• Conduct compliance monitoring, compile internal and external reports, and implement remedial actions.
• Provide regulatory training, present compliance feedback to business areas, and advise on legislative developments.
• Support the promotion of a compliance culture through projects and stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of compliance experience in insurance or investment environments, with a legal qualification (LLB, BComm Law) or equivalent.
• Member of the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa (CPrac) preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and decision‑making abilities, with a proactive and ethical mindset.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of FAIS, Long‑term Insurance Act, Conduct Standards, Policyholder Protection Rules and FICA.
• Experience with compliance risk assessment, monitoring plans and the Generally Accepted Compliance Practice Framework.
• Ability to analyse and interpret legislation, produce compliance reports and deliver training.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in standard office software.
