About the role
The Community Leadership Internship Programme is a five‑month, full‑time, paid placement based in Equal Education’s Gauteng office. Interns will work directly with youth groups, facilitators and community stakeholders to develop leadership, facilitation and community‑organising skills.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, schools, and community organisations.
- Support the planning and logistics of youth group sessions, working alongside facilitators and learners.
- Deliver political education, leadership development and training workshops.
- Represent Equal Education on public and private platforms and contribute to movement‑building activities.
- Provide support and training to facilitators and help create a safe, inclusive environment for participants.
Required profile
- Age 18‑27 with a matriculation certificate or Level 4 equivalent.
- Previous experience in schools, youth development or facilitation is advantageous.
- Strong organising abilities, ethical leadership and a passion for community development.
- Self‑motivated, punctual, creative and able to work in a fast‑changing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interest in human‑rights issues.
