Category Manager

About the role

The Category Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of assigned product categories, ensuring strong commercial performance and a compelling customer offer. Working closely with the Group Market Leader and cross‑functional teams, the role drives sales growth, optimises assortment and aligns category strategy with Leroy Merlin’s commercial vision.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement category‑specific strategies aligned with market trends and customer needs
• Conduct market analysis to identify growth, innovation and competitive opportunities
• Support the development of long‑term category growth plans
• Incorporate customer insights into product selection and strategy
• Oversee product assortment, pricing and lifecycle management
• Identify gaps and opportunities within the product range
• Negotiate favourable commercial terms with suppliers
• Track and analyse sales, margins and inventory turnover
• Monitor KPIs, implement corrective actions and forecast demand
• Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain and Store Operations on promotions and campaigns

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain or related field
• 3–5 years’ experience in Category Management, Buying or Merchandising
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
• Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting and reporting tools
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
