Buyer Estimator (Procurement & Cost Estimation)

About the role

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Buyer Estimator to support the procurement and cost estimation activities for a world‑class palladium‑rhodium‑nickel‑copper‑gold project in Limpopo Province. The role will bridge the gap between material sourcing, contractor pricing and project budgeting, ensuring that all procurement actions align with the project’s commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate sourcing of construction materials and ensure procurement through approved suppliers and frameworks.
• Assist contractors in obtaining competitive quotations, validate pricing and identify early cost‑overrun risks.
• Standardise procurement processes across multiple contractors to maintain consistency and control.
• Monitor supplier performance, resolve supply‑chain issues and develop a reliable supplier base for community contractors.
• Support Quantity Surveyors by aligning procurement costs with overall project budgets.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, prevent unauthorised purchases and maintain a full audit trail.
• Provide guidance to contractors on procurement best practices and build commercial awareness.
• Collaborate closely with the Construction Manager, supervisors and the QS team to align procurement with construction sequencing.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Quantity Surveying or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in procurement, buying or estimating within construction, mining or infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience working with contractors or in project‑based procurement settings.
• Strong understanding of material pricing, sourcing and supplier management.
• Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SAP) is advantageous.
