Assembly Technician

About the role

The Assembly Technician joins the production team at Wabtec SA to assemble, fit, test and inspect mechanical and electrical components for OEM and customer service projects. Working on a rotating weekday/weeknight shift pattern, the role ensures that all assemblies meet safety, quality and performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Position and align parts in jigs, fixtures or other holding devices.
• Join components using crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press‑fits, or similar methods.
• Connect led wires to printed circuit boards and route wiring using soldering or bonding procedures.
• Assemble hardware such as caps, clamps, knobs and switches.
• Perform on‑line go/no‑go testing and inspection with magnifying devices, measuring instruments and electronic test equipment.
• Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance under simulated conditions and record results.
• Study shop drawings and design documents to verify mechanical and electrical compliance.
• Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical instruments and testing equipment.
• Maintain accurate consumable stock levels and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Collaborate with international partners via Teams for troubleshooting and reporting.

Required profile

• Ability to solve practical problems on the shop floor.
• Strict adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality policies.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends and shift rotations as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.
• Soldering and bonding techniques.
• Use of microscopes or magnifying devices for precision work.
• Operation of measuring instruments and electronic test equipment.
• Calibration, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical/electrical instruments.
