About the role
The Tactical Support Unit (TSU) Officer is responsible for securing company premises, assets, and armored vehicle operations in high‑risk environments. The role involves close coordination with control rooms, emergency services, and national security centres to ensure safe and compliant cash‑in‑transit activities.
Key responsibilities
- Observe driver and crew compliance with company procedures during operations.
- Report faulty or defective equipment and any breaches of operational policies.
- Conduct daily road‑check inspections and communicate findings to supervisors.
- Escort bulk banking and armored vehicles through high‑risk areas and safeguard them during breakdowns or attacks.
- Notify the National Control Centre and Joint Operations Centre of potential robberies and coordinate with authorities.
- Provide immediate assistance during incidents, using minimum force and correct arrest procedures as per the Criminal Procedure Act.
- Maintain strict information confidentiality on a need‑to‑know basis.
- Participate in safety meetings, report incidents, and attend safety education programmes.
Required profile
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
- PSIRA Grade C certification.
- Cash‑in‑Transit, Armed Response, and Business Firearm Competency certifications.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Medical fitness certificate for firearm use.
- Clear credit and criminal record.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in cash‑in‑transit or armed response.
- Ability to work under pressure, strong communication, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
