About the role
Join a well‑established, relaxed luxury restaurant on the West Coast of South Africa as a Sous Chef. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will help maintain high food quality, ensure smooth kitchen operations during service, and support the growth of junior team members.
Key responsibilities
- Run sections and oversee kitchen operations during service.
- Support the Head Chef with daily preparation, plating standards, and quality control.
- Deputise for the Head Chef when required.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and waste management.
- Ensure consistency across à la carte and function catering.
Required profile
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar kitchen role.
- Culinary qualification or strong equivalent experience.
- Ability to lead a section confidently during busy service.
- Good understanding of food costing and portion control.
- Familiarity with fresh seafood and quality ingredients.
- Reliable, self‑motivated and able to work shifts, including weekends.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
