About the role
Capitec is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Business Banking Credit team. You will help build the systems that power credit decisions for South African entrepreneurs, ensuring fast, fair, and scalable processing.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop secure, scalable back‑end services for credit applications.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (DevOps, QA, Product, Architecture) to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and define engineering standards.
- Implement and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, including EKS, Lambda, RDS, MSK, S3 and ElastiCache.
- Automate infrastructure with Terraform and GitOps workflows, and build CI/CD pipelines.
Required profile
- Minimum Grade 12 education; tertiary qualification in IT is preferred.
- 6+ years of back‑end development experience using .NET (C#) and/or Python.
- Proven experience with microservices, event‑driven architectures, and production cloud environments.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
Required skills
- C# (.NET 7/8/9) and Python (FastAPI).
- AWS services: IAM, EKS, RDS, MSK/Kafka, Lambda, ElastiCache, S3.
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
- GitOps tools: ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins.
- CI/CD pipeline creation and automation.
- Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL.
- Observability tools: Instana, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
