Senior Manager – Traffic Management & Safety

About the role

The Senior Manager – Traffic Management and Safety will lead the Traffic Management Division within the Directorate of Spatial Planning and Development. This role oversees staff, prepares strategic reports for council committees, and drives initiatives to improve traffic safety and efficiency across the municipality.

Key responsibilities

• Controls the staff and activities of the Division.
• Prepares reports for the relevant Council Committees.
• Prepares traffic impact studies submitted by developers.
• Formulates annual and five‑year capital expenditure programmes.
• Develops traffic calming and safety plans.
• Undertakes intersection analysis and transport management system designs.
• Analyses traffic impact studies.

Required profile

• B‑Tech or BSc Civil Engineering degree or Masters in Traffic Engineering.
• Valid code B/EB driver’s licence.
• Computer literate.
• Eight years’ experience, with at least five years in traffic engineering.
• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Keeps abreast of the latest developments in traffic engineering.
