Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

WSP is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its Mine Waste team on a full‑time basis in Midrand. You will lead geotechnical investigations across mining, infrastructure, and building projects, delivering high‑quality technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multi‑disciplinary geological and geotechnical projects, including tailings facility investigations and infrastructure works.
• Interpret geological and geotechnical data, perform analyses, and provide recommendations.
• Prepare proposals, tenders, technical reports, and client presentations.
• Supervise field technicians and junior engineers, ensuring safety and compliance with company, client, and regulatory standards.
• Identify safety hazards, report OH&S incidents, and conduct work safely.
• Support business development and client relationship activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; postgraduate studies in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of post‑graduate experience in geotechnical investigations.
• Professional registration with ECSA.
• Proven ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong written, diagrammatic, and oral communication skills.
