Senior Fibre Optic Splicing Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Fibre Optic Splicing Technician to lead our field team in Mbombela. The role involves managing technicians, overseeing installations, maintenance, testing and rapid fault resolution for our fibre network.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fibre splicing on dome joints and termination panels
• Conduct OTDR, OLTS and ATP testing and generate detailed reports
• Build links, locate faults and carry out repairs on fibre infrastructure
• Install and splice termination boxes and ONTs to enable customer activations
• Supervise and mentor field technicians and splicing teams
• Conduct quality inspections, network audits and ensure compliance with safety standards
• Upload daily test results, as‑built documentation and site updates to company systems
• Provide after‑hours and weekend support for emergency fibre breaks

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years of fibre optic splicing experience
• Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle for daily travel
• Willingness to work after hours and participate in standby schedules
• Strong communication and reporting abilities
