Renewable Energy Engineer – South Africa

About the role

Arup is seeking a Renewable Energy Engineer to join its multidisciplinary Energy team in South Africa. The role will be based in either Johannesburg or Cape Town and focuses on delivering technical due diligence, owner’s engineer, and lender’s technical advisor services for renewable energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering expertise on solar, wind, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
• Support technical due diligence, owner’s engineer, and lender advisory assignments.
• Contribute to business development and project management activities.
• Collaborate with a diverse team to drive decarbonisation initiatives across African markets.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering (B.Eng., B.Sc., or B.Tech).
• Relevant experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in South Africa.
• Exposure to high‑voltage systems (132 kV and above) is desirable.
