Receiving & Stock Control Supervisor – Food Retail

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Receiving & Stock Control Supervisor to lead the receiving function in a busy supermarket environment. You will ensure that all incoming stock is accurately received, inspected, recorded and stored while maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all receiving activities and allocate daily tasks to the team.
• Verify deliveries against purchase orders and supplier documentation.
• Count, inspect, receive and capture stock accurately.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, shortages and damaged goods.
• Maintain up‑to‑date stock records and monitor inventory levels.
• Ensure FIFO rotation and compliance with food‑safety standards.
• Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts and support annual stock takes.
• Liaise with suppliers on delivery queries and discrepancies.
• Promote effective housekeeping in the receiving area.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Previous experience in receiving, stock control or inventory within a supermarket or food‑retail setting.
• Supervisory or team‑lead experience is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of stock receiving processes and inventory control.
• Experience conducting stock counts and investigating discrepancies.
