Quality Controller – Heavy Engineering Manufacturing

About the role

The company is a heavy‑engineering manufacturing concern seeking a Quality Controller to ensure that all incoming materials, in‑process items and finished products meet strict quality standards. You will work on‑site in the East Rand, collaborating with production, suppliers and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct supplier audits and over‑inspections both internally and externally.
• Perform welding, assembly/component and profile inspections.
• Audit stock, equipment, production and stores, and manage quality‑control documentation.
• Handle customer relationships, complaints and quality training for the production team.
• Maintain and calibrate measurement equipment, and stop production when defects are identified.
• Prepare quality‑assurance reports and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and standards.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Mechanical or Quality Management (certificate in quality control preferred).
• 3‑5 years of experience in a similar quality‑control role.
• Strong understanding of quality‑control standards, testing techniques and hydraulics.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and produce clear reports.
• Computer literate with good interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Use of measuring devices such as gauges, meters and calipers.
• Welding inspection techniques.
• Hydraulics knowledge.
• Inspection equipment calibration.
