Project Engineer I

About the role

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is looking for a Project Engineer I to lead the planning, coordination and execution of complex mining system projects across South Africa. The role blends engineering expertise with project management to ensure deployments are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, resource schedules and risk registers.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure efficient, on‑time deployment of mining systems.
• Provide hands‑on support for product and project deployment, including onsite installation and system configuration.
• Support and maintain software, deliver bespoke customisations and implement scripting‑based solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, escalating critical problems when necessary.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of current and upcoming product offerings.
• Report regularly on project status, issues and mitigation actions.
• Collaborate with sales in pre‑sales activities and deliver technical presentations.
• Ensure compliance with Hexagon Mining’s health, safety and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Residence within South Africa.
• Strong high‑level knowledge of mining systems and their deployment.
• Ability to act as escalation point for technical issues and drive resolutions.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with internal teams and customers.
