Professional Nurse / Midwife

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse/Midwife to join its multidisciplinary team. The role involves delivering safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care in line with scope‑of‑practice regulations while collaborating with a range of healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care in partnership with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Promote a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure accurate charting of all utilised stock and equipment.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse or a 4‑year Nursing Diploma/Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (preferred).
• No minimum experience required.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS for specialised wards).
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Ability to develop and modify nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control knowledge.
• Proficiency in nursing processes, procedures, and record keeping.
• Patient assessment skills.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation and risk identification.
• Application of scientific nursing principles and processes.
