Principal Air Traffic Service Officer FACT (CLD)

About the role

The Principal Air Traffic Service Officer (FACT – CLD) is responsible for overseeing the delivery of air traffic services in accordance with statutory requirements, ATNS policies and operational procedures. Reporting to the Pool Manager, the role ensures that standards, training and performance are consistently maintained across the team.

Key responsibilities

• Comply with the QMS (ISO) plan and monitor adherence to the standards maintenance programme.
• Maintain standard checks, performance monitoring and record all exceptions to ensure ATSOs meet regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all medicals and proficiency assessments are current and aligned with CAA regulations.
• Conduct reviews, incident investigations and manage workplace discipline.
• Implement operational procedures, manage inter‑unit relationships and promote effective teamwork.
• Plan, publish and monitor shift schedules and ensure compliance with published procedures.
• Coach peers, assist with SAR requirements and conduct audits (QMS & SA).
• Train and provide OJTIs, compile training documentation and conduct bi‑annual assessments.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Valid ATSO licence with Clearance Delivery (CLD) validation.
• OJTI qualification.
• At least 2 years of ATSO experience.
• Supervisory experience is an advantage.
