Pharmacist Assistant

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Pharmacist Assistant to support its hospital pharmacy operations. The role involves delivering a professional, cost‑effective pharmaceutical service to in‑patients and the public while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances for stores and the public.
• Guarantee accurate dispensing of prescribed medication.
• Maintain efficient stock holding and distribution of medicines and scheduled substances.

Required profile

• Essential education: Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic Certificate.
• Essential experience: None required; 1‑3 years private hospital pharmacy experience is desired.
• Experience in clinical pharmacy, antimicrobial stewardship, and stock management is advantageous.

Required skills

• Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship knowledge.
• Computer literate – proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with current pharmacy legislation (e.g., Medicines and Related Substances Control Act).
• Understanding of ethical product handling, financial management, and medical aid scheme regulations.
• Experience with pharmacy systems such as UNISOLVE and AS400.
