Mechanical Technician

About the role

The Mechanical Technician will ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of mechanical assets in Unilever’s high‑volume washing powder plant. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and continuously improving equipment such as conveyor belts, pumps, pneumatic and dust‑extraction systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, couplings, seals and rotating equipment.
• Diagnose root causes of breakdowns, implement corrective actions and minimise production downtime.
• Carry out lubrication, alignment, balancing and calibration of mechanical systems.
• Install, commission and upgrade mechanical equipment for plant expansion or optimisation projects.
• Support reliability initiatives including OEE monitoring, root‑cause analysis and FMEA.
• Participate in digitisation and automation upgrades aligned with Industry 4.0 and the smart‑factory vision.
• Follow Unilever safety and environmental procedures, conduct risk assessments and adhere to LOTOTO and permit‑to‑work protocols.

Required profile

• Technical background in mechanical maintenance or engineering.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in high‑volume consumer goods.
• Ability to work under pressure, respond quickly to breakdowns and follow strict safety standards.
