Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre Infrastructure

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will provide technical support to the National Technical Manager, Data Centre technicians and managers, driving the design, construction and upgrade of data centre mechanical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the data centre team to develop and approve mechanical system designs for new builds and enhancements.
• Design DX cooling, chilled water, and direct/indirect free cooling systems.
• Review and approve basis of design documents, capacity calculations and mechanical schematics.
• Define commissioning and system testing strategies for each project.
• Enhance mechanical systems to achieve high efficiency and support 99.999% electrical and 99.99% mechanical uptime.
• Ensure designs integrate with the BMS for monitoring and management.
• Prepare hand‑over documentation for operations teams.
• Review and approve mechanical maintenance procedures and create safe work procedures.
• Manage planned and corrective maintenance to meet SLA/MSA requirements.
• Maintain compliance with local legislation, standards and company policies.
• Provide training on design and operation principles and support national technical assistance.

Required profile

• Excellent technical design and calculation abilities.
• Knowledge of electrical, control, fire and BMS systems is an advantage.
• Experience in data centre mechanical engineering or similar high‑availability environments.
