Machine Operator – Mining Site

About the role

Afrimat CM North (Hartebeesfontein) in Balmoral is seeking a Machine Operator to safely operate machinery within the mining area, handle material movement, and support site operations. The role requires adherence to safety standards and effective communication with site personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Safe operation of machine inside the mining area.
• Handling and/or moving of material.
• Effective communication with all site personnel.
• Conduct daily pre‑start inspections on the machines.
• Maintain cleanliness of the machine.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Valid Articulated Dump Truck Competency Certificate (Front End Loader certificate/experience advantageous).
• Minimum 2 years experience in a mining environment.
• Ability to distinguish back‑up alarms, voices and normal site sounds.
• Capability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Medically fit according to the Mine Health and Safety Act and company standards.

Required skills

• Articulated Dump Truck operation (certified).
• Front End Loader operation (certified).
