Litigation Attorney – Recoveries (Legal Collections)

About the role

This position is for a Litigation Attorney to join a fast‑growing law firm’s Recoveries division in Sandton. The role focuses on high‑volume legal collections across vehicle finance, home loans, credit cards and business loans, driving the end‑to‑end litigation process from summons to execution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage high‑volume litigation from summons through judgment and recovery.
• Oversee post‑judgment recoveries, execution processes and foreclosures where applicable.
• Draft and review pleadings, summons and judgment packs.
• Lead vehicle asset finance recoveries, voluntary surrenders and settlements.
• Coordinate with sheriffs, correspondent attorneys and clients.
• Monitor portfolio performance, trends and risk.
• Supervise legal secretaries and administrative staff.
• Maintain accurate system updates and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with relevant statutes and court rules.

Required profile

• LLB and admitted attorney status.
• 3–5 years post‑admission experience in legal collections/recoveries.
• Experience managing a legal team (2–3 years).
• Exposure to secured lending litigation and high‑volume environments.
• Interest in technology‑driven legal processes.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, reporting and data analysis.
