About the role
We are looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Legal Compliance Officer to help develop, implement and continuously improve a risk‑based compliance framework across the Group. The role works closely with the Legal Department and business units to embed regulatory obligations into everyday processes.
Key responsibilities
- Design, monitor and enhance the Group’s compliance framework, ensuring alignment with risk management and corporate governance principles.
- Maintain regulatory registers, obligation trackers and policy repositories, mapping duties to business owners and controls.
- Track regulatory developments, produce impact assessments and advise senior leadership on required actions and timelines.
- Leverage compliance technology to streamline obligation tracking, policy management, training, third‑party risk, evidence retention and reporting.
- Draft, update and maintain Group‑wide compliance policies, protocols, standards and guidance notes.
- Develop and deliver regulatory training, with targeted sessions for high‑risk areas.
- Support compliance monitoring, audit follow‑up, incident remediation and corrective‑action closure.
- Assist with data‑privacy and information‑governance activities, including POPIA compliance, privacy impact assessments and data‑subject requests.
- Handle regulator enquiries, inspections, vendor risk assessments and customer complaints.
Required profile
- Strong understanding of compliance management frameworks, regulatory risk management and corporate governance.
- Experience in policy governance, regulatory horizon scanning and impact assessment.
- Knowledge of data‑privacy regulations, particularly POPIA, and information‑governance practices.
- Ability to communicate complex regulatory concepts clearly to senior stakeholders.
Required skills
- Proficiency with compliance and legal technology platforms for tracking, reporting and training.
- Excellent analytical skills for assessing regulatory changes and their business impact.
- Strong drafting skills for policies, procedures and guidance documents.
