Lead Design Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a motivated Lead Design Engineer to coordinate and oversee project engineering activities for substation projects and tenders. You will act as the technical hub between internal teams, external stakeholders, and customers, ensuring deliverables meet scope, quality and schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering disciplines across GIS and AIS substation projects and tenders.
• Manage stakeholder communication, progress tracking and document approvals.
• Review equipment specifications, BOQs, supplier offers and monitor supplier deliverables.
• Lead technical issue resolution during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and support site teams during installation, testing, commissioning and punch‑point closure.
• Apply engineering processes, change management, risk and opportunity management throughout project execution.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, procedures and Hitachi Energy core values.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of risk‑management processes and Hitachi Energy frameworks.
• Domain expertise in either primary (GIS/AIS design, earthing, cabling, lightning protection, MV system) or secondary (protection, relay panels, SCADA/RTU, telecom, control cabling) substation engineering, with awareness of the other domain.
• Experience coordinating civil and MEP interfaces and preparing BOQs, technical proposals and tender documentation.
