Junior Quantity Surveyor - High-End Construction Projects

About the Position

Join a dynamic and growing construction firm looking for a motivated Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our site-based team. You will play a key role in supporting both site and commercial operations by working on prestigious residential, commercial, and industrial projects across Gauteng, with contract values ranging from R50M to R300M.

Main Responsibilities

• Perform accurate measurement and valuation of works from drawings and site inspections (monthly payment certificates, valuations, variations, and daily works).
• Prepare and maintain subcontractor measurement sheets and all necessary supporting documentation.
• Assist in the final account measurement and closing processes.
• Manage subcontractor payment administration: receiving, verifying, and reconciling claimed quantities against actual progress to prepare payment certificates.
• Monitor retentions, on-site materials, and overall payment status.
• Handle site and contract administration: maintaining site instructions, variation orders, and correspondence, while supporting claims in compliance with JBCC requirements.
• Act as a key site interface, collaborating closely with Site Engineers, Foremen, and subcontractors to verify completed works and support claim substantiation.

Candidate Profile

• BSc degree in Quantity Surveying is essential.
• 1-2 years of professional experience as a QS, specifically within a contractor or site-based environment.
• Solid understanding of measurement techniques and subcontractor payment claims.
• Proven knowledge of JBCC contracts.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with site technical teams.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in CCS Candy or advanced Microsoft Excel for precise measurements.
• Strong knowledge of JBCC contract administration.
• Accurate quantity take-offs and valuation skills.
• Subcontractor management and payment certification.
• Construction site administration and variation tracking.
