Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of air‑quality processing equipment in Midrand. The role offers hands‑on experience designing large‑scale centrifugal and axial fans and other heavy industrial machinery for local and international clients, with structured mentorship from senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret customer technical requirements and translate them into detailed engineering designs.
• Assist in the design, analysis and development of custom industrial fans and rotating equipment.
• Collaborate with production, management and client teams to ensure projects meet quality standards and deadlines.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas for new business opportunities.
• Prepare documentation and communicate design intent to internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 0–3 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑driven, adaptable and eager to learn.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD/mechanical design software.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles.
