Junior Field Service Technician – Medical Devices

About the role

Our client is looking for a motivated Junior Field Service Technician to join their Technical Services team in the East Rand. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience with medical and surgical equipment, supporting both on‑site customer sites and the workshop environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with servicing, repairs, fault finding and routine maintenance of medical equipment.
• Support senior technicians during installations, commissioning and de‑commissioning of devices.
• Perform preventative maintenance and annual service checks.
• Complete job cards, service reports and related technical documentation accurately.
• Provide high‑quality customer service during on‑site visits and assist with after‑hours support when required.
• Support delivery, setup, testing and commissioning of equipment, including pre‑installation inspections.
• Assist with customer training where needed.
• Help maintain stock control, participate in inventory counts and report discrepancies.
• Follow health and safety procedures, use PPE correctly and keep work areas clean.
• Report quality issues, customer complaints and safety concerns promptly.
• Attend team meetings, training sessions and participate in technical development programmes.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Basic technical experience with an electrical and/or mechanical background.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Good communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
• Customer‑focused and professional attitude.
• Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant technical qualification or studies (advantageous).
• Experience in field service or medical equipment environments (advantageous).
