Graduate Development Programme – Data Science & IT

About the role

Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is offering a two‑year Graduate Development Programme for South African graduates in data science, computer science, applied mathematics or related disciplines. The programme combines institutional knowledge with on‑the‑job training to build solid work experience and improve employability.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate through various depots and departments within TFR to gain practical exposure.
• Participate in structured training sessions and mentorship activities.
• Complete project assignments aligned with TFR’s operational needs.
• Undergo performance assessments every six months.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business objectives.

Required profile

• South African citizen aged 18‑35.
• Fully completed bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, applied mathematics, computer systems engineering or a related field (NQF Level 8).
• Unemployed graduate with no prior work experience required.
• Strong business understanding and customer‑focused attitude.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
