About the role

The Food Service Support Expert ensures the smooth operation of the hotel's food and beverage areas by maintaining cleanliness, organizing equipment, and supporting service staff. This full‑time, onsite position is based at the Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch in Johannesburg.

Key responsibilities

• Complete end‑of‑day closing duties, including storing reusable goods, breaking down supplies, cleaning equipment, and securing the premises.
• Set up, stock, and maintain work areas throughout the shift, following clean‑as‑you‑go procedures.
• Inspect and maintain the presentation of china, glassware, and silverware before use.
• Adhere to all company safety, security, and hygiene policies, reporting any incidents promptly.
• Provide courteous guest interactions, answer telephone calls with proper etiquette, and uphold professional appearance standards.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals and address employee concerns.

Required profile

• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb without assistance.
• Capability to navigate uneven, slippery surfaces, stairs, and service ramps safely.
• Fine motor skills for handling objects of varying size and weight.
• Commitment to following safety training, using personal protective equipment, and reporting unsafe conditions.
