About the role
The Food Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales performance and achieving turnover targets within the food category. This role combines budget oversight, stock management, merchandising, and team leadership to ensure a profitable and well‑stocked retail environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the turnover budget and achieve sales targets through promotions and margin control.
- Maintain 100% in‑stock levels for promotional and regular lines, oversee pricing, ticketing, and markdowns.
- Control stock flow from receiving to the floor, reduce excess, damages, and shrinkage.
- Implement health and safety standards, ensure proper equipment use and maintain a 5‑star store rating.
- Identify new business opportunities, conduct trade visits, and support exhibitions and new projects.
- Lead and develop the sales team through performance management, talent development, and coaching.
- Oversee personnel costs, scheduling, overtime, and general expenses.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing sales teams in a food retail environment.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, stock control, and promotional planning.
- Ability to enforce health and safety regulations and maintain high store standards.
- Leadership skills to motivate staff, manage performance, and develop talent.
Required skills
- Forklift operation (Hyster/Posie license)
