Engineering Manager

About the role

Capitec is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the technical direction of products used by millions of banking customers. You will guide a team of senior engineers, shape technology choices, and ensure the stability and scalability of critical platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of senior engineers to deliver reliable, high‑quality software.
• Set clear technical direction and make architecture decisions that support long‑term scale.
• Collaborate with product and business partners to translate needs into practical solutions.
• Balance hands‑on technical work with people leadership and delivery accountability.
• Improve build, release, and operational processes with a focus on stability and simplicity.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑3 years proven experience leading software engineering teams.
• At least 5 years of strong technical background, capable of guiding architecture and design decisions.
• Experience working in the telecommunications (telco) domain (non‑negotiable).
• People‑centred leadership style with confidence working across product and business stakeholders.
• Experience with large‑scale, business‑critical systems and agile, fast‑paced environments.
