Digital Graphic Designer (Retail Media)

About the role

takealot.com, South Africa’s leading online retailer, is seeking a talented Digital Graphic Designer to join its Retail Media team in Cape Town. The role focuses on creating digital assets for retail media solutions, supporting marketing initiatives and ensuring brand consistency across channels.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Retail Media team with digital design executions for display banners, video, CRM and more.
• Stay updated on new technologies, design trends and deliver cutting‑edge work.
• Brainstorm, conceptualize and storyboard ideas.
• Participate in idea sessions to share new design perspectives.
• Add effects/elements to enhance motion graphics.
• Create Retail Media go‑to‑market materials such as pitch decks, flyers and social posts.
• Collaborate with design, marketing, retail and promotions departments.
• Deliver work on time while adhering to brand CI and templates.
• Work quickly with exceptional attention to detail.
• Implement feedback from senior management and peers.
• Document processes to improve design‑retail media collaboration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Graphic Design.
• 3–5 years of professional graphic design experience.
• Strong self‑management and communication skills.
• Ability to work within brand guidelines and templates.
• Detail‑oriented and able to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Adobe Photoshop.
• Adobe Illustrator.
• Adobe After Effects (or other animation/video software).
• Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
• Motion graphics creation.
• Understanding of digital and mobile design principles.
• Knowledge of typography, colour, composition and brand design.
• Familiarity with generative AI prompting (advantageous).
