Data Engineer

About the role

FNB is looking for a Data Engineer II to design, build and maintain robust data pipelines that support business analytics and decision‑making. You will work closely with enterprise architects, BI developers, data scientists and product owners to ensure data is collected, integrated, stored and made available in line with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from diverse source systems.
• Integrate data across multiple platforms to enable cross‑border reporting and analytics.
• Build and maintain physical data marts and databases for operational and strategic use.
• Implement automated deployment frameworks, task scheduling and unit/system testing.
• Conduct data profiling, validation and quality assessments; set up monitoring and alerting.
• Partner with business units to translate data requirements into technical solutions and support UAT.
• Research emerging technologies, contribute to best‑practice guidelines and promote knowledge sharing.
• Provide infrastructure support for analytics, big‑data technologies and advanced machine‑learning models.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling and ETL processes.
