Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an energetic, self‑motivated Cyber Security Engineer to join Capitec’s specialised Data Security team. You will implement, support and manage security solutions that protect systems, networks, users and data from cyber threats, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our digital assets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, implement and support cyber security solutions across cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver security projects in line with established standards.
• Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab or GitHub.
• Automate security processes and manage security tools and technologies.
• Develop and maintain data security solutions for structured and unstructured data, including encryption, masking and DLP.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in security engineering or a related technical role.
• Proven experience building and managing security solutions in cloud environments (AWS preferred, Azure/GCP advantageous).
• Hands‑on experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
• Basic understanding of at least one high‑level programming language and advanced scripting skills (Bash or PowerShell).
• Experience designing and deploying enterprise‑scale cloud infrastructure.
