Construction Manager - Solar Field Projects

About the role

Cox South Africa is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead utility‑scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. The role involves overseeing all phases of solar field construction, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, and budget compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multidisciplinary teams across civil, structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Coordinate EPC activities and supervise on‑site construction of solar farms.
• Ensure strict HSE compliance and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee tracker system installation (e.g., Nextracker, Array Technologies) and grid integration works.
• Maintain stakeholder communication and resolve site‑level issues promptly.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–10+ years of construction management experience.
• 2–5+ years specifically in solar PV or renewable energy projects.
• Proven track record delivering MW‑scale utility solar farms on time and within budget.

Required skills

• Experience with utility‑scale solar farms (MW‑scale).
• Knowledge of tracker systems such as Nextracker and Array Technologies.
• Grid integration and substation expertise.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• NEBOSH or IOSH health and safety certification.
• Solar PV certifications (e.g., PVsyst, NABCEP).
