Commodity Specialist – Procurement

About the role

The Commodity Specialist will lead the analysis, sourcing, negotiation and management of procurement activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and BBBEE requirements while aligning with the Group’s strategic objectives. This role works closely with internal stakeholders to develop commodity strategies and drive cost‑saving initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse market trends and management information to inform sourcing decisions.
• Support stakeholders with budget forecasting by providing commodity insights.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies that achieve cost savings through benchmarking and negotiation.
• Ensure procurement BBBEE targets align with the Financial Sector Charter.
• Participate in corporate culture and social responsibility initiatives.
• Identify and recommend process, system and policy improvements.
• Manage tender and quotation processes to select preferred suppliers.
• Coordinate contract drafting, signing and ongoing supplier performance management.
• Monitor local procurement and environmental objectives against transformation goals.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and implement sourcing strategies.
• Maintain regular stakeholder relationships and stay updated on relevant legislation.

Required profile

• Strong analytical capability to interpret trends and management data.
• Knowledge of BBBEE regulations and the Financial Sector Charter.
• Experience in developing and executing sourcing strategies.
• Ability to collaborate with legal, finance and business teams.
• Proactive approach to risk mitigation and compliance.
