Clinical Fellow – Breast Surgery (ST5)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Clinical Fellow (ST5) to join our Breast Surgery team for a one‑year fixed‑term position. The role offers the opportunity to run independent clinics and theatre sessions while receiving consultant support as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Run own breast surgery clinics and theatre lists, progressing towards independent practice.
• Provide clinical cover in new‑patient one‑stop clinics, review clinics and in‑patient wards.
• Participate in weekly MDT meetings, screening clinics and result clinics.
• Share on‑call duties for breast abscess referrals during working hours.
• Assist consultants with teaching, quality‑improvement projects, M&M and CME activities.

Required profile

• Fully registered with the GMC and a licence to practise in place before start.
• Qualified doctor with experience in breast surgery.
• Ability to work independently and flexibly within a multidisciplinary team.
• Interest in pursuing higher exams (CESR) or further specialist development.

Required skills

• Breast surgery, including oncoplastic techniques and reconstruction.
• Use of radiological modalities such as MRI biopsy and AI diagnostic tools.
• Collaboration with microsurgery colleagues in plastic surgery.
