Clinical Fellow – Breast Surgery (1‑year Fixed Term)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Clinical Fellow to join our Breast Surgery team for a 1‑year fixed‑term position. The role offers full‑time, 40‑hour weeks with no out‑of‑hours on‑call duties, allowing you to develop independent clinics and theatre sessions under consultant supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Run independent breast surgery clinics and theatre sessions, progressing toward autonomous practice.
• Participate in new‑patient one‑stop clinics, review clinics, and in‑patient cover.
• Share on‑call duties for breast abscess referrals and cross‑specialty referrals during working hours.
• Attend weekly MDT meetings, screening clinics, and assist consultants with result clinics as needed.
• Engage in active trial recruitment, research projects, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (must be in place before start).
• Experience in breast surgery, with a desire to advance technical skills.
• Commitment to teaching, regular training sessions, and CME activities.
• Interest in higher exams (CESR) or special development plans, discussed early with department leadership.

• Oncoplastic breast surgery procedures.
• Microsurgical reconstruction skills.
• Use of radiological support including MRI biopsy and AI diagnostics.
