Clerk of Works (Civil) – 12‑Month Contract

About the role

The client is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works (Civil) to join a construction project in Steelpoort on a 12‑month contract. You will be the on‑site quality champion, ensuring that all works meet the required standards and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect daily construction activities to verify workmanship, material compliance and adherence to approved drawings.
• Identify defects or non‑compliant work and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Track project progress against the programme, report delays and attend site meetings.
• Verify compliance with technical specifications, building regulations, health & safety and environmental requirements.
• Maintain daily site diaries, inspection records, progress reports and photographic documentation.
• Communicate quality, safety or programme concerns to contractors, engineers, quantity surveyors and client representatives.
• Observe site safety practices, report unsafe conditions and ensure contractor compliance.
• Support testing, commissioning and final snagging activities, confirming that completed works meet operational requirements.

Required profile

• Diploma in Building Construction.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in civil construction.
• Proven QA and QC experience on large‑scale projects.
