Chief Executive Officer – 5 Year Fixed-Term

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer will lead the NFVF’s strategic growth and operational delivery, ensuring the agency’s mandate is achieved with efficiency and impact. Reporting directly to the Chairperson of the NFVF Council, the CEO will provide visionary leadership and build a high‑performing, collaborative culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the NFVF’s short, medium and long‑term strategy, identifying strategic opportunities and championing a high‑performance culture.
• Provide financial stewardship, overseeing budgeting, spending oversight and resource allocation while securing sustainable funding.
• Oversee operational processes, ensure compliance with PFMA and other governance standards, and drive transformation and change management initiatives.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with DSAC, funders, intergovernmental agencies and the broader film industry, representing the NFVF in negotiations and stakeholder engagements.
• Develop and enforce legal and risk‑management frameworks, advising the Council on statutory obligations and mitigating organisational risks.

Required profile

• Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Public Administration, Governance, Business Management or equivalent; Master’s (NQF Level 9) is an advantage.
• 10–15 years progressive management experience, including at least 5 years in an executive or senior management role.
• Proven experience in public‑sector governance, corporate governance or PFMA compliance, with strong legal interpretation skills.
• Demonstrated capability in budgeting, financial sustainability and strategic initiative delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement ability and a track record of leading large‑scale organisational change.
