Business Information Security Officer

About the role

The Business Information Security Officer (BISO) will lead the implementation of Discovery’s Group Wide Security Programme, ensuring that security vision, privacy objectives and strategy are embedded across the business. Reporting to senior management and working closely with the CIO, the BISO will act as the primary liaison for information governance and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide input to the Group Information Security Strategy and drive its execution within the business unit.
• Engage with the CIO and senior stakeholders to align security initiatives with business and system developments.
• Develop and maintain information security policies, standards and guidelines that support business outcomes.
• Identify, assess and report information security risks, coordinating remediation actions.
• Design and deliver training and awareness programmes for staff on security obligations.
• Offer ongoing guidance and support on all information‑security matters.
• Participate in relevant forums and committees, providing regular status reports.

Required profile

• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent knowledge of technology environments and ability to translate security concepts into business impact.
• Outstanding written and oral presentation abilities, capable of influencing all organisational levels.
• Professional communication, time‑management and organisational skills.
• Customer‑service orientation with a results‑driven mindset.

Required skills

• Relevant information‑security qualifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM).
