Audit Specialist

About the role

The Audit Specialist will lead the delivery of internal audits across three Old Mutual jurisdictions – Eswatini, Ghana and Botswana. Reporting to senior audit leadership, the role oversees audit teams, manages stakeholder relationships and ensures audit activities align with the Group Internal Audit (GIA) methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the audit universe, update the audit plan and identify emerging risks for the three countries.
• Supervise audit teams and external service providers, ensuring timely execution of audit engagements.
• Prepare and present audit reports with actionable management recommendations and due dates.
• Facilitate agreement on audit findings with executive committee members, board members and regulators.
• Support Heads of Audits in stakeholder engagement, resource planning and integrated audit approaches, including IT and DAS components.
• Ensure compliance with the IIA Code of Ethics and internal GIA policies.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as CA (SA), CIA or CFA are advantageous.
• Significant internal audit experience, preferably with exposure to African markets.

Required skills

• Internal audit methodology (GIA).
